Yes. The Chrome extension is completely free to download and use. There is no cost to contribute captures to the data pool.

No. The extension only captures SERPs for keywords in the Mosaic Search queue. It ignores all other searches entirely. Your Google identity is never transmitted. Captures are linked to a one-way anonymous hash that cannot be reversed.

The extension reads the visible SERP structure: organic result domains and positions, any Map Pack listings, AI Overviews, Featured Snippets, People Also Ask boxes, ads, shopping carousels, and the order these sections appear on the page. No personal account data, no cookies, no browsing history.

Traditional rank trackers send bots to query Google from data centers. Google detects these and serves sanitized results that omit Map Packs, AI Overviews, and local variations. Mosaic Search data comes from real users doing real searches, so it reflects exactly what your customers see, including every SERP section and city-level differences.

We recommend at least 10 unique captures across different users and cities before drawing conclusions. The keyword queue shows a progress bar so you can see how close each term is to that threshold.

Yes. Any logged-in user can submit keywords to the queue via the Keywords page. Once submitted, the keyword becomes available for the community to capture.

SERP data is aggregated and shared across all Mosaic Search users. Individual captures are anonymised before storage, and no user can see another user's raw capture history.

Mosaic Search captures location from your browser's reported city whenever Google exposes it in the SERP. You can also set a manual location override in the extension popup to tag captures with a specific market if your browser location doesn't reflect it.
